un-named graveyard

here are a just a few imaes from my first grave yard shoot. there are still others that i want to edit and look at first, these are just my first attempt.
this grave yard is very old and unkept. there are weeds everywhere and alot of the graves that are there have sunken. i spent alot of time here as i wanted to be able able to capture as much as i could.

Jani Patokallio

here is an image by Jani Patokallio and was taken in Yanak, Tokyo Japan. The name of this image is the temple rood and graveyard.
i think that this images is really interesting that is has both a temple and a graveyard together in one image and i appriciate the depth that it has.

Jason Rock

Here are some images i found by Jason Rock. they are of a graveyard in Edinburgh that i became familiar with myself when i briefly lived in the city. although i do like these images i dont think that the photographer has captured all the beauty that this place has and has wasted some of its porential. the content of the images are nice but the images themselves feel a little flat to me. because i have been to this graveyark myself i personaly know how it should appear in a photograph, prehaps if i had not seen this place for myself I would have a different opinion on these images.

found images

here are some images that i found which basicaly show what i have in mind. i'm glad that i am not the only person interested in this subject. although i do like the images that i have found i do not think that i will be directly inspired by these images as they are different from what i would usually do myself.

Intent

I have always found graveyards and cemateries to be very nice and peaceful places. I dont find them to be scary or dark places at all. This has been a big part in inspiring me with Visual Metaphor. when walking though cemateries I cant help but notice how sad the graves can look. often they havnt been kept or looking after, the ones that do have flowers have either dead ones or old and dirty plastic ones. this time of year gives Gods gift to those who have past in the form of spring flowers. I find grave yards to be much more attractives places when left to allow nature to grow arround it.

The song I have selected 'the captain and the hour glass' has lyrics that refer to dieing and being set free. I belive that these two things fit together if i can photograph the natrual wonders that have been allowed to grow around the grand old stones in grave yards.

Song Lyrics

You kick the blow, now you gotta kick the guy
You sat alone under billowing sky
If I feel God judging me,
Well I fell into the water, now I’m free.

My friends they don’t really get me, think I’m the only one
Well i sold my soul to jesus and since then ive had no fun
Behind every tree is a cutting machine and a kite fallen from grace
Inside every man is a heart of sand you can see it in his face.
He’ll tick tick tick tick tick tick tick away.
Another second lost with every fallen grain.
He’ll tick tick tick tick tick tick tick away.
Another second lost with every fallen grain.

The wind and I, we speak the same, but he don’t hear so well.
You’re gonna have to curse him well you’re gonna have to yell.
The sky and I, we’ve had our fights and I’m coming round to rain,
If the rain come round and it don’t go out, then I’ll never have to speak again,
I can tick tick tick tick tick tick tick away.
Another second lost with every fallen grain.

Can tick tick tick tick tick tick tick away.
Another second lost with every fallen grain.

The captains got his boots on and he’s heading out the door,
Leaving his lady alone thinkin’ ‘He don’t love me no more.’
He’s done with all this bullshit, He’s going back to war,
If Heaven is as Heaven does then this is Hell for sure...
And He’ll tick tick tick tick tick tick tick away.
Another second lost with every fallen grain.
He’ll tick tick tick tick tick tick tick away.
Another second lost with every fallen grain.

*You kick the blow, now you gotta kick the guy
You sat alone under billowing sky*
If I feel God judging me,
But I fell into the water, now I’m free
